KAMP officially renamed as Kamp Copyright and Related Rights Limited

The Kenya Association of Music Producers has announced transformation into Kamp Copyright and Related Rights Limited.

In a statement, the change was made following resolutions passed in an Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 2nd October 2024.

“Proposed name change of the Company: We are pleased to announce that KAMP has officially changed its name to Kamp Copyright and Related Rights Limited attached here with a certificate of change of name under reference number, PVTCN-LA1Y8ZLY.” Statement read.

Other key resolutions passed during the recent AGM include; the Amended Definition of “Member” that is meant to ensures that membership accurately represents the vibrant community the organisation serves.

“In alignment with our commitment to inclusivity, we have amended the definition of “Member” to reflect the latest updates in our Company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association, adopted on April 5, 2024. This change ensures that our membership accurately represents the vibrant community we serve.” Read the statement.

The organisation also announced the commencement of new membership registrations, starting with performers.

This initiative aligns with the provisions of the Copyright Act, reinforcing the dedication to supporting performers in safeguarding their rights.

Similarly, a distribution framework ensuring that funds collected on behalf of performers will be distributed at a 50:50 rate in comparison to Producers of Sound Recordings was approved.

“This resolution underscores our commitment to fair compensation and recognition for all.” Statement read.

The organisation also announced the acceptance of new auditors Grant Thornton who are Tier 2 Auditors of International Repute and who are expected to play a vital role in enhancing the transparency and accountability of the organisation.
