“Prefects”, a young adult Kenyan show, has landed an Emmy nomination in the category of Kids Live-Action for the 2025 International Emmy Awards.

The series, released in 2024, revolves around a group of students who decide to revolt against their leadership and demand better treatment for all.

The producers of the show, Peripheral Vision International, reacted to the news saying: “We’re thrilled that ‘Prefects’ has been nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Kids: Live Action category! A huge congratulations to the team that made this happen – we’re so honoured to be recognised.”

The show is nominated in the Kids Live Action category alongside 3 other shows, including Fallen (UK), Luz (Brazil), and Shut Up (Norway).

Upon releasing the list of nominees this year, the International Academy President and CEO said the nominees reflected the diverse nature of the arts.

“As the International Emmys® continue to recognise the very best in television, the creativity and calibre of this year’s Nominees, from a record 26 countries, reflect the global strength of our industry,” said International Academy President & CEO Bruce L. Paisner. “New York City will once again serve as the global stage this November, where we will honour their remarkable achievements.”

The series stars Azziad Nasenya, Melvin Alusa, Tracy Kababiito, Rachel Nduhukire, Basil Mungai, Amani Mwasera, Vanessa Okeyo and Jibril Ogada.
