Fresh from successfully defending her 1500m World title, Faith Kipyegon will return to action on the 10th of this month as she competes at the Athlos New York City World Athletics Continental Tour Silver.
It will be her second successive appearance at the women-only Athlos event, organised by 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams’ spouse, Alexis Ohanian, since 2024.
The four-time Olympic champion will be defending her mile title this year alongside her compatriot Susan Ejore, 1500m world bronze medallist Jessica Hull of Australia, world indoor silver medallist Freweyni Hailu of Ethiopia, 2023 world champion in 10,000m Gudaf Tsegay, also from Ethiopia, and American 1500m champion Nikki Hiltz.
Kipyegon won last year’s edition in 4 minutes 4.79 seconds, ahead of Deribe Welteji and Susan Ejore, who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Winners in each race will pocket KES 7.75 million.
