The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has closed Madogo – Hola Road in Tana River County due to flooding occasioned by the ongoing heavy rains.
In a statement on X, KeNHA said the road has been closed between Madogo Junction and Bura after flood waters crossed the road at Dukanotu area, approximately five kilometres from Cheredende Centre.
KeNHA declared the affected road section unsafe and consequently closed it until the flood waters recede and the damaged section reinstated.
“Heavy rains in the region have led to flood waters crossing the road at Dukanotu area, approximately five (5) kilometres from Cheredende Centre. This has resulted in extensive flooding covering a section of almost one (1) kilometre on the Madogo – Bura road, posing significant risks to road users. KeNHA has therefore declared the affected road section unsafe and has consequently closed it until the flood waters recede and the damaged section is reinstated” it said.
The Authority said a contractor is currently on site, ready to address the situation once the water subsides.
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution and refrain from driving on flooded roads.
