Kiambu Caucus forum want County to be split into three

A Section of Jubilee leaders under the banner Kiambu Caucus forum formed by former elected leaders want the County to be split into three counties due to its high population.

In his submission to the National Dialogue Committee, former Kiambu Governor James Nyoro said the Population in Kiambu County has increased from 2.3 to 2.7 million people and therefore there is need for delimitation of boundaries to be re-looked at.

He at the same time said Kiambu is the second most popular County in the country and fifth largest contributor to the country’s GDP.

On his part, former Kiambu Member of Parliament Jude Njomo advocated for seven extra formations of constituency saying some like Ruiru, Kikuyu, and Kiambaa need to be divided as per the population formula where voters are more than 100,000 voters represented.

Jubilee County Chairman, Senator Jonathan Mara urged for Equalization funds to be calibrated so that other areas are not left behind.

Nyoro, however, said that the Caucus only focused on the issue that the elected leaders had not forwarded to the 10-member team.

So far, the Bi-partisan team has received 256 Memorandums and are expected to sift through in the coming days.
