Kenyan singer-songwriter, performing and record producer, Njerae, has shared a surprise EP called ‘Four Letter Word (Deluxe)’ containing four tracks:
- Gone ft. Preston Pablo
- Colors ft. Bensoul
- Decide (Remix) ft. Hokima
- Fight For You (Remix) ft. Kobby Worldwide
Embracing new sounds and an uncharted artistic approach, Njerae has tapped different artists to expand her sonic palette.
Among them is Canadian pop crooner Preston Pablo, who adds his Pop sensibilities to the large-sounding “Gone” and Kenyan hit-maker Bensoul, recruited for the Afro-Pop tinged cut “Colors.”
For the last two tracks, Njerae adopts Afro-House as a genre on “Decide (Remix)” and “Fight For You (Remix)”.
“The deluxe feels like a fuller breath, it’s me expanding the world I built with the original project. It’s more confident, more intimate, and more playful. I wanted to show the different shades of love, not just the romantic kind, but the self-love, the surrender, the growth. The songs move through softness and strength, like a conversation between who I was when I started the project and who I’ve become now,” said Njerae of the album.
Also involved is American producer Hokima, who reworks the original “Decide”, creating a remix that evokes more emotion and adds some energy to its predecessor.
“More than anything, I wanted listeners to feel seen. To find a piece of themselves in the music, whether it’s in the vulnerability, the groove, or the healing.”
This release comes after a busy year for Njerae, who joined Bien on his nationwide tour, ‘Alusa Continua Tour’ and played her first overseas show in Bradford, England, during the Blankets & Wine UK Edition.
