President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are this morning chairing a joint Parliamentary Group meeting bringing together lawmakers from Kenya Kwanza, ODM, Ford-Kenya and the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA).
The sitting is the first since the two leaders unveiled their cooperation agreement in March and is expected to review progress on the deal, including the compensation of protest victims, while setting the agenda for joint parliamentary work in the coming months.
On August 6, the two leaders formed a five-member committee to oversee the implementation of the UDA-ODM agreement, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 7, 2025, and the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report of 2023.
The committee is chaired by former ODM-nominated Senator Agnes Zani, with former nominated MP Fatuma Ibrahim, Policy Expert in the Office of the Leader of Minority Gabriel Oguda, lawyer and governance expert Javas Bigambo, and lawyer Kevin Kiarie as members.
A joint secretariat, co-led by executive secretaries from UDA and ODM, was also established to support the committee’s operations.
The team is expected to engage in wide-ranging consultations with the public, government institutions, civil society, religious groups, and the private sector.
