Kenyan award-winning Swahili crooner, Otile Brown had a few choice words to say about fellow award-winning musician Bien-Aimé Baraza, accusing him of being a “hypocrite” and an “attention-seeker”.
The drama began when Mumbi Main, Brown’s longtime manager, stepped down. Responding to the news, Bien shared a post of it online paired with his latest single, “All My Enemies Are Suffering.”
His fans and most of social media interpreted it as a subtle jab at the turmoil happening in Brown’s camp.
Shortly after, Otile fired back in a string of now-viral Instagram Stories, lashing out without mentioning Bien by name but making the target unmistakably clear.
“Iyo ng’ombe ilikua lazima icomment(sic)… always got sum’n to say,” Otile wrote, accusing the singer of inserting himself into situations for attention.
He further slammed Bien’s fashion choices as contrived, saying, “Dress well na uwachane na kubeba makuku stingo za kishamba, hakuna authenticity apo.”
Commenting on Bien ongoing tour, the “One Call Away” singer scoffed at the title saying “International my ass”.
“… mimi narudia hamniwezi. Ata muwin Grammy mi siwatambui,” he declared, brushing off Bien’s success and calling him “a big hypocrite” in a follow-up post.
This isn’t the first time Otile has scoffed at Bien’s success; last year, Otile controversially claimed there were “no international artists in Kenya.”
While Bien did not respond, rapper KRG the Don responded with “the real enemy was poverty”.
“I don’t understand our local artists anymore. They like fighting over nothing all the time. You are all struggling in life!! The real enemy is poverty.”
KRG, later, also shaded Otile Brown by urging Kenyans, sarcastically, to support his music because he knows nothing else.
“Kenyans, please help Otile by listening to his music again,” KRG said. “All he knows in this world is to do music; he can’t do anything else, just listen to his music. I’m begging you on his behalf. Coz ako karibu kulia sasa. Aki, he must be confused kabisa. Yani it’s that bad hadi he is beefing everyone, ndio akue relevant online.”
