Kenyan singer Sofiya Nzau is poised to make history as the first Kenyan artist to perform at Tomorrowland, one of the world’s most prestigious electronic music festivals.
The event, which began over the weekend and will continue until July 27, in Boom, Belgium, marks a monumental moment for African representation in global dance music and a defining milestone in Sofiya’s rapidly rising career.
The performance comes amid Sofiya’s first official European tour, launched following the runaway success of her global hit Mwaki, which has amassed over 300 million streams on Spotify and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
She is scheduled to share the spotlight with EDM icon Steve Aoki.
“This has been an amazing experience and a life-changing moment for me to perform for my fans in Europe,” said Sofiya, reflecting on her tour so far. “This is where my music is mostly listened to, and feeling that love in person has been truly humbling.”
The tour kicked off with a sold-out show at Thuishaven in Amsterdam, where Sofiya delivered an emotional and high-energy performance that electrified the crowd.
She followed this with a memorable set at Club Panache in Enschede, receiving overwhelming support from her growing European fanbase.
Her next major stop is Germany’s Open Beatz Festival, another sold-out event expected to draw over 15,000 fans.
Germany has become a central hub for Sofiya’s global breakout, with her collaboration Wacuka alongside German producer Avaion recently surpassing 60 million Spotify streams.
In addition to live performances, Sofiya has been working behind the scenes with some of Europe’s top electronic producers and songwriters, including Arjen Thonen, Sergio Popken, and Tommy Deckers. She also participated in Tomorrowland’s exclusive writing camp at the Lab of Tomorrow studios, an invitation-only initiative for shaping the future of dance music.
