The Talanta Stadium, currently under construction, is set to be renamed Raila Odinga International Stadium upon its completion.
This development follows President William Ruto’s acceptance of an emotional appeal by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations.
In his response, President Ruto acknowledged the Governor’s request and assured Kenyans that the proposal would be honoured once the stadium is completed.
His remarks were met with loud applause and cheers from the thousands of Kenyans in attendance.
A minute of silence was also observed in honour of the late former Prime Minister.
