New Zealand Olympian Hamish Legarth (Paris 2024, sprint kayaking) and Nicole Shields (Paris 2024 – silver, track cycling) made a stop at Tatu City during their 4,500 km

cycling tour across East Africa to raise funds for World Bicycle Relief, a global nonprofit improving access to education, healthcare, and livelihoods through bicycles.

Hamish and Nicole were joined by Nova Pioneer School and Tatu City staff for a community ride through the city’s nature trails and cyclist-friendly infrastructure.

Their stop in Tatu City follows earlier visits to Kisumu, where they toured World Bicycle Relief’s distribution hub, and Iten, a training hub for Kenya’s elite runners.

The tour continues across the region, promoting mobility equity through the power of the bicycle.

“Tatu City is designed for people, not just buildings,” said Linda Nyaseda, Head of City.

Management at Tatu City. “Our pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly infrastructure ensures safety and harmony between vehicles and non-motorised users.
