54 athletes have been invited by Athletics Kenya for the trials for World Athletics Relays this Saturday, 12th April, 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
However, AK has announced that participation in the trials will be by invitation only, and the athletes must meet the set requirements among them:
- Must have been cleared by the Antidoping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) and the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU)
- All athletes will be required to collect their bib/running numbers on Friday, 11th April 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium starting from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
- Invited athletes for national trials are encouraged to carry along their travel documents (passport).
Trial events for Saturday include 100m men and women, 400m men and women, 4x100m men and women and 4x400m men and women.
According to AK, xix athletes will be selected in the men’s 100m. The first four (4) athletes across the finish line in the 100m men’s final during men’s finals will be automatically selected, with the next two being determined by a panel of selectors based on the 2025 ranking in the 100m or 200m events.
Also, AK will select 8 athletes: the first six athletes across the finish line in the 400m men’s finals will be automatically selected, while the next two will be determined by a panel of selectors based on the 2025 ranking in the 400m event.
In the 4 by 400M Women and Mixed Relay, AK will select 8 athletes; the first six athletes across the finish line in the 400M women finals will be automatically selected, and the next two will be determined by a panel of selectors based on the 2025 ranking in the 400M event.
