Kitui came alive today with celebration, colour, and music as President William Ruto led the nation in marking Mashujaa Day.
The stands at Ithookwe Stadium were a sea of flags, bright fabrics, and traditional regalia, with crowds cheering every performance and military march-past, from schoolchildren to cultural troupes, turning the national holiday into a vibrant showcase of Kitui’s people and culture.
The entertainment lineup, curated by the Permanent Presidential Music Commission, was also part of the day’s highlights.
Musicians like Bosco Mulwa, Mahukum, Marash Ma Mkorea, Kakongo Sisters, and Franco Kisassy Boys Band kept the energy high with their hit “Kenya Nutueete”.
The crowd swayed and clapped along as Justus Myello, Winnie Mutanu, Ann Kathy, Stephen Kasolo, Priscilla Nina, Stellar Mengele, Dr Mbuvi, and Ndeke Ya Muthanga performed “Kenya Tumeimarika” and “Kenya Twi Mbee” by Musomesa Mwenee, Jay Lava Beibe, Sauti Isu, Hon Muthengi Ndagara, and Kasupuu Kamutei.
The celebrations also highlighted the Akamba people and culture, known for their craftsmanship, storytelling, and rhythmic dances.
The cultural dancers brought a unique warmth and authenticity to the day as they moved in sync with the drumbeats.
