After a two-day break, the 2024 Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) action resumes tonight with two mouthwatering semi-finals in Morocco.

Nine-time champions Nigeria Super Falcons will face defending champions Banyana Banyana of South Africa starting at 7pm East African Time at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.

Both sides remain undefeated in the tournament so far, with Nigeria topping Group B after thrashing Tunisia 3-0 in the first match before overcoming Botswana by a solitary goal in the following match and settling for a barren draw in the last match to finish with 7 points on top of the pool.

The Super Falcons eased past Zambia after thumping them 5-0 in the quarter final to set up a date with South Africa tonight.

On the other end, Banyana Banyana got off their Group C campaign in style with a 2-0 win over Ghana before they were forced to a 1-1 draw against Tanzania and completed their assignment with a 4-0 resounding victory against Mali to top the group on 7 points.

South Africa beat Senegal 4-1 in the last 8 via post-match penalties after a barren draw in regulation time.

The two teams will be meeting for their 13th time, each side winning 4 times and the rest of the 4 matches ending up in stalemate.

Hosts Morocco will be up against the Black Queens of Ghana at the Stade Olympique de Rabat from 10pm.

Atlas Lionesses topped Group A on 7 points, drawing 2-2 against Zambia before thrashing DR Congo 4-2 and following it up with a 1-0 win over Senegal.

Morocco were 3-1 over Mali in the last 8 stage.

Ghana finished 2nd in Group C on 4 points, losing 2-0 to South Africa, then drawing 1-1 with Mali and thrashing Tanzania 4-1.

Ghana sealed their ticket for today’s semis following a 4-1 post-match penalties win over Algeria in the quarter-final.

Morocco and Ghana will be meeting for the 9th time, Morocco winning 5 times against Ghana’s 3 victories.
