Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will be keen to consolidate his lead when he will be in action tonight at Herculis Diamond League in Monaco,France.
At the tenth round of the meet in Monaco, Wanyonyi, who leads the standings with 22 points, will be up against fierce competition from world champion Marco Arop of Canada, former world silver medalist Djamel Sedjati, Tshepiso Masalela of Botswana, Mohamed Ataoui of Spain, and Frenchman Gabriel Tual.
World under-20champion in 3000m steeplechase Edmund Serem, will take on Olympic bronze medallist Abraham Kibiwot, Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco and Ethiopia’s Samuel Firehu.
2022 World silver medallist Jacob Krop will be the sole Kenyan in the 5000m, as he will be in search of his first points this season.
Krop will face the Ethiopian trio of Yomif Kejelcha, Hagos Gebrhiwet, and Haile Bekele, as well as Bahraini Birhanu Balew.
World 800m champion Mary Moraa and Nelly Chepchirchir will face former world champion Halimah Nakaayi of Uganda in the 1000m race, among other competitors.
