New Delhi hosted the First World Public Summit, “New World: India in the Architecture of a Shared Future”, organised by the World Peoples Assembly in conjunction with the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event marked the start of the 2026 international cycle of regional public summits.

The World Public Summit is a new international communication platform for exploring and shaping the meaning of a shared future and strengthening the conscious unity of the world’s peoples.

The first summit was attended by representatives of government agencies, international organisations, the diplomatic community, academic and expert circles, business, culture, education, and the media – a total of around 1,500 guests from more than 24 countries.

Participants discussed a wide range of issues, including the development of public diplomacy, the economics of partnership and trust, the role of the media in promoting shared values, the role of women and the family in shaping the values agenda, integration models and the preservation of culture.

“A new world is being formed if there is dialogue, trust and common values – and all this is happening now here in New Delhi,” noted Svetlana Smirnova, Chairman of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly, at the summit’s opening.

The summit programme included plenary sessions, international discussions, and expert roundtables. The first plenary session opened with the traditional Indian ritual of lighting the lamp of peace – a symbol of the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

The summit resulted in the adoption of the Delhi Declaration, the main principle of which is “the unity of mankind through respect for civilisational diversity, personal dignity and shared responsibility for the future”. This principle marks the transition from dialogue to joint creation and serves as the ideological foundation for the further development of global cooperation. The Delhi Declaration will contribute to shaping the global agenda of the Second World Public Summit, to be held in Russia.

“The successful holding of the World Public Summit in India is living proof that the world wants to talk to one another. I moderated sessions where the hall was filled with representatives from over 20 countries who had travelled specifically to this international meeting in Delhi. Parliamentarians, astronauts, scientists, cultural figures,” Alyona Dolgopolova, the Official Secretary of the World Peoples Assembly said

“The hall was filled with people who had flown in from Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. We were welcomed in Delhi with Indian hospitality, which is never merely formal; it is always genuine. India today is not just a country – the chair of BRICS – it is a civilisation that knows how to unite without coercion,” Dolgopolova added

The Second World Public Summit will take place in Moscow in September. Its theme is “A New World: Values that Unite”.
