Preparations is at advanced stage ahead of the Mr and Ms. Greater western Body Building Championship slated July 5th at Fitness Summit Gym, Hall,Kisumu.
The Championship that’s set to attract over 120 body builders will consist of a total of four categories mainly Body Building,Bikini,Physique and Wellness.
Kenya Body Building Federation will use the event to raise awareness to the athletes on the importance of winning clean devoid of doping violations.
Speaking to KBC Digital Sports Kenya Body Building Federation President Chrisantus Omedo reiterated the efforts the federation is doing to sensitize the partcipants on the doping.
’We will enlighten them{body builders} on the dangers and benefits of drug free sport.That’s what we intend to also achieve during the competition’’.
Omedo warned upcoming body builders of using banned substances saying participants at the July 5th event will be tested.
‘’Body builders should realise that there’s life after body building and they should always involve themselves in clean sport,this is very important for their lives,all the upcoming body building events will see all the athletes tested’’Omedo remarked.
The Championship is expected to draw participants from across the country but more strategically targeting the players from the talent rich Nyanza and Western regions.
‘’We decided to choose Kisumu because quite a huge talent of our athletes come from the region and most of the time when we host events in Nairobi they usually don’t travel and miss out on chance to showcase their talent, so by organizing this competition,it is one way of tapping the talent’’, Omedo remarked.
Winners will be awarded cash prizes .Body Building winner will walk away with Ksh.50,000 while Male Physique and Bikini top finishers will receive Ksh.20,000 and Ksh.15,000 respectively.Wellness category victor will receive Ksh.15,000.
