Over 5,000 needy secondary school students in Ruaraka Constituency have received bursaries worth Ksh34 million under the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Speaking during the disbursement ceremony held at Drive-In Primary School, Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang’ said the funds are meant to ease the financial burden of education on families and ensure students can stay in school.

He noted that the bursaries had been distributed to students in both day and boarding schools, including learners living with disabilities.

The legislator further pledged that all students from the constituency who qualify for professional courses after completing secondary school will have their college education fully sponsored by the NG-CDF.

Kajwang’ also urged principals in Ruaraka to focus on delivering quality education, adding that future allocations will aim to reach even more learners and ensure no student is left behind due to lack of school fees.

Residents who attended the event called on the MP to fast-track the construction of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in the constituency to expand opportunities for post-secondary education.

On politics, Kajwang’ dismissed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s recent remarks on national television regarding ODM’s position on the proposed broad-based government, terming them as personal views that do not reflect the party’s official stance.
