The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken over 1,188 files related to suspected cases of healthcare fraud, previously held by the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

In a statement released on Monday evening, the investigative agency noted that the files pertain to individuals, entities, and institutions accused of engaging in fraudulent dealings that have undermined efforts to deliver quality healthcare services to Kenyans.

“A multi-agency team has been constituted under the leadership of the DCI with a view of expeditiously reviewing the files,” said John Marete, who signed the statement on behalf of the Director of Criminal Investigations.

The agency stressed that no suspect will be shielded, regardless of their political affiliation or social standing.

“In collaboration with all other law enforcement agencies, the DCI is committed to recovering all assets and other resources acquired through fraudulent means,” added Marete.

DCI has assured the public of regular updates on the progress of the investigations, even as it called for continued vigilance and cooperation in reporting fraud and related criminal activities.
