Kenyan TikTok creator Cecilia Achieng has died following a road accident along the Thika Superhighway in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the 23-year-old content creator was struck by a vehicle after reportedly alighting from a taxi near the highway in the early hours of Friday, November 7, 2025. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speaking about the incident, the taxi driver, Patrick Muthami, said that before they were set to arrive in Juja, Cecilia, clearly intoxicated, began to act erratically, demanding that he drop her off on the highway. An hour after she alighted, she was hit by a car on the highway.
Achieng, who had recently graduated from Mount Kenya University in August, was known for her lively dance and comedy videos on TikTok, where she had begun to attract a growing following under her handle “Cess”.
Her death was confirmed by family members on Sunday, November 9, 2025, who described her passing as sudden and devastating. Her mother called her “promising” as she spoke about what the loss had cost the family.
Tributes have since poured in from fans and fellow content creators who remembered her for her energy, humour, and creativity. The incident has also sparked a national conversation about peer responsibility.
