Kenya’s pioneering electric vehicle (EV) firm has successfully launched its first range of electric vehicles in the market.
The firm unveiled it’s five signature EVs including, Dhahabu, a premium urban cruiser, Taji which is a mid-size family EV and Amani, it’s compact eco-city car.
Tad Motors Chief Executive Officer Tadesse Tessema said the decision to unveil the EV models in the Kenyan market aligns with the government’s sustainability agenda.
“We’re humbled and energized by the support from our partners, innovators, and community who made this day possible,” said Tadesse.
“The Kenyan government’s continued support for sustainable industrialization has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.”
Speaking at the event, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr Korir Sing’Oei, applauded the firm for the strategic investment and urged international investors to explore the growing opportunities in Kenya’s innovation and mobility sectors.
“Kenya is open for investment. We are creating an enabling environment where ideas like Tad Motors can scale across the continent and beyond,” he emphasized.
Representing the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Alexander Koerner, Programme Officer for Sustainable Mobility, emphasized UNEP’s commitment to supporting clean transport initiatives across Africa.
“Shifting to electric vehicles is not just innovation, it’s a climate imperative,” he added.
Other models include Fahari, a luxury executive model and Makena which is a rugged, performance-driven utility EV.
Tad Motors now sets its sights on scaling across Africa through strong partnerships, local assembly, and green technology investments.
