The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) launched a five-day capacity-building training program in Kenya on countering terrorism financing and anti-money laundering.

The advanced-level program, titled “Counter Terrorism Financing and Anti-Money Laundering – Advanced Level,” began in Nairobi on Monday and was attended by Deputy Commander of Kenya’s Army Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan.

The program’s objective is to enhance the national capabilities of member states in combating financial crimes linked to terrorism.

It targets a select group of professionals from the banking, financial, and security sectors, including financial compliance directors, financial investigators, and officials responsible for anti-money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as personnel from regulatory and supervisory authorities.

Core areas of the training includes advanced technical and leadership topics, such as international legal frameworks, modern terrorism financing methods, money-laundering mechanisms, and digital technologies for detection and analysis, alongside leadership skills and compliance management within financial institutions.

Additionally, the program includes practical applications, case studies, and intensive specialized exercises to improve participants’ skills in tracking suspicious financial flows, analyzing complex patterns, and applying recognized international standards.

Through this initiative, the IMCTC reinforces its commitment to building the capacity of member states and supporting global efforts to counter financial threats associated with terrorism, offering high-quality programs that blend comprehensive knowledge with practical application, thereby enhancing specialists’ preparedness to address contemporary challenges in this field.

IMCTC is an alliance of 43 nations from the Muslim world, unified in their efforts to combat the Islamic State and participate in various counter-terrorism operations.
