AFCON resumes today with round two matches in the the first-ever Boxing Day fixtures

The 35th African Cup of Nations action resumes today in Morocco, with match day after a Christmas break, marking the first-ever Boxing Day AFCON.

The Zimbabwe Warriors will open the day’s action in Group B against Th Palancas Negras of Angola in a 1:30pm local time fixture and 3:30pm Kenyan time at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

Both teams are wounded ahead of the COSAFA Derby, having lost their opening matches, with Zimbabwe and Angola losing by an identical score of 2-1 to Egypt and South Africa.

Two hours later, seven-time champions Egypt will tackle South Africa at the Stade de Adrar in Agadir, with both sides tied on 3 points.

The action will shift to group A at 4:00 pm Moroccan time, or 6 pm Kenyan time. The Coelacanths of Comoros, who lost against the host, will battle the Chipolopolo from Zambia at the Mohamed V stadium in Casablanca.

Comoros have no option but to win, while Zambia also need a victory, as their last match will be against the hosts.

The last match of the day will pit the Atlas Lions of Morocco against Mali at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium from 9pm local time here or 11pm Kenyan time.

Mali are joint 2nd in the group with Zambia after playing out to a 1-1 draw in their opening match.
