Kiprono Kimutai and Jackline Chepngeno won the 3rd edition of Nelson Koech’s Belgut Half Marathon held on Sunday in Kericho County.
Kimutai cut the tape in 1 hour and 46 seconds to bag the men’s title ahead of Wisley Kipmoi and Alex Matata, who clocked 1:01:20 and 1:01:29 in 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
Jackline Chepngeno emerged victorious in the women’s half marathon, stopping the clock in 1:08:00, followed by Janet Nyiva (1:08:17) and Zenah Jemutai (1:09:07) in 2nd and 3rd places in that order.

The race, which attracted over 25,000 runners competing in the 21km, 10km, and 5km community fun run, raised funds for bursaries and scholarships for needy students studying at Belgut’s Starehe Boys’ and Girls’ Centre.
Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, Sports PS Elijah Mwangi, Interior PS Raymond Omollo, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot and area MP and the race organiser Nelson Koech, were among the dignitaries who graced this year’s edition.
