The national women’s soccer team Harambee Starlets qualified for the second round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after beating Tunisia 1-0 during their second leg encounter played played today in Sousse,Tunisia.
Kenya scored the lone goal through Treza Engesha in the third minute.
Tunisia’s effort of finding an equalizer amounted to none and missed two penalty kicks in each half. Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Lilian Awuor who plies her trade in Romania was the player of the match after saving the two penalties to keep Kenya into the game.
Kenya and Tunisia had battled to a barren draw during the first leg played last Friday at Ulinzi Complex,Nairobi.
Following the win Starlets will now face Gambia in the final round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Kenya is bidding to return to the continental showpiece for the first time since making their debut at the 2016 edition.
