Chaos erupted at the Machakos County Assembly on Tuesday over plans to impeach Speaker Anne Kiusya.

The County Assembly of Machakos has suspended plenary and committee sittings that were scheduled to resume Tuesday after a month-long recess.

This follows confrontations between different factions pitting the majority side against the minority side in the assembly and a bid to impeach Speaker Anne Kiusya.

Police officers from the Machakos Police Station were called in to contain the escalating violence between the majority side led by Machakos Central MCA, Nicholas Nzioka and the minority led by Mua MCA Francis Ngunga.

Drama started in the morning when the House Business Committee under the leadership of Speaker Kiusya met to plan for the Assembly business after recess.

It is alleged that the group opposed to her disrupted the session with a plan to introduce a fresh motion to impeach her.
