Y254 TV presenter Phyline Jean has won the Best Young Achiever TV Personality award at the Young Achievers Africa Awards.

The announcement was made during the glamorous awards ceremony, where Jean was honoured for her exceptional work in youth-centred programming and her influence as a role model for aspiring media personalities across the continent.

Speaking after receiving the award, an elated Phyline expressed her gratitude to her fans and supporters.

“I’m beyond grateful for this recognition. Winning this award means the world to me, and I dedicate it to everyone who has supported my journey,” she said.

Phyline, who has spent eight years in the media industry, has grown popular among young audiences through her engaging and authentic style on KBC’s youth channel, Y254. This win comes after several previous nominations, including nods at the Shining Stars Awards in South Africa and the Zikomo Awards in Zambia.

In a previous interview with KBC Digital, Phyline reflected on her journey and the challenges she’s faced in the media space.

“The biggest challenge as a presenter is that you’re not allowed to have bad days. You could be going through something difficult, but when you’re on air, the audience doesn’t need to know that you have to keep smiling no matter what,” she noted.

She continues to inspire aspiring presenters with her story, having been drawn to journalism after hearing her father send radio shout-outs while serving in the army. Her dedication to practice and self-improvement has been key to her growth.

“Always work on perfecting your craft so that when the opportunity comes, you’re ready,” she advises.

Other Kenyans nominated for the award include Eric Omondi for Humanitarian of the Year, Faith Kipyegon for Sportswoman of the Year, Amber Ray for Beauty Queen in Action and Bradley Marongo for Best Content Creator, to mention a few.
