A Borana wedding has lit up Marsabit county with its fusion of tradition, culture and modernity. Once characterised by arranged unions, Borana marriages have since evolved with love taking precedence as partners choose their spouses as the case in this union between Guyato Hassan and Abdul Burjuma.
While courtship customs may have changed, the spirit of the celebration remains grounded in tradition from regalia, rituals of old, to traditional cuisines.
In attendance at the wedding were a number of public officials including Soipan Tuya, CS Defence, Aden Duale, CS Health, Rehema Jaldesa, Chairperson of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) and Governor of Marsabit Mohammud Ali.
