African Nations Championship co-hosts Uganda inched closer to sealing their maiden quarter final ticket after beating Niger 2-0 in their 3rd group C fixture yesterday evening at the Nelson Mandela National stadium Namboole in Kampala.
The win saw the Uganda cranes taking control of the group on 6 points ahead of Algeria and South Africa who are on 4 points while Guinea has 3 points.
Uganda faces South Africa in their last match on 18th of this month in a must win match to guarantee themselves a spot in the last 8 stage.
Both South Africa and Algeria have two matches to play, with Bafana Bafana facing Niger and Uganda,while Algeria will face Guinea and Algeria in their final two matches.
