China Media Group (CMG) Africa will host a high-level dialogue and commemorative event at the National Museums of Kenya on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist War.

The event will begin at 2:00 pm and is expected to bring together leading voices from academia, policy, and diplomacy.

The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest.

Distinguished historians, international relations experts, policymakers, and students are also expected to attend.

“The dialogue will reflect on the enduring legacy of the war, exploring its profound impact on East Asia and its far-reaching global consequences,” the statement by the organisers reads. “It will also consider the relevance of the lessons from the conflict for African nations, particularly in areas of sovereignty, peace-building, and sustainable development.”

In addition to the dialogue, CMG Africa will present a special documentary and film screening to honour the milestone. Among the featured productions will be The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru (2023), a compelling documentary revisiting one of the lesser-known but significant tragedies of the war.
