City Hall kicks off campaign to market Nairobi as best tourist destination

Nairobi County Executive Member for Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service where City Culture, Arts and Tourism sub sector is domiciled, Dr Anastasia Nyalita, led the sub-sector stakeholders on a Nairobi Heritage walking tour of city’s historic and cultural sites.

The tour, being one of the several tour circuits in the city, took the team to various attraction and historic sites, including Kenyatta Avenue, Point Zero, The Stanley, KICC, and the National Museum of Kenya’s Nairobi Gallery.

Dr Nyalita said Nairobi City County Governnent is intent on rolling out a strategy that would promote the city as the best tourism destination of choice.

Said Dr. Nyalita, “Holding public tours across the city targets to showcase the unique tourism attraction sites that Nairobi has in order to draw both domestic and international tourists. Nairobi, aka *The Green City In The Sun* is the only city with a national park in the entire world. It is a home of unique sites, historical monuments and untold stories, which are tourism fortunes for the city.”

Dr. Nyalita said that Nairobi city has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, hence the need to explore. “We want to market Nairobi the best city in the world because of its unique nature, culture history, and heritage,” she added.

Dr Nyalita was accompanied by Clement Sijenyi, County Chief Officer for City Culture, Arts and Tourism, Director, City culture, Arts and Tourism, Catherine Gechuba and Deputy Director Tourism, Susan Mukuhi.

Governor Sakaja Johnson’s manifesto promised to make Nairobi a pro-business city by boosting trade and tourism sectors and ensuring Nairobi became the leading hub for communication, transport and business. The Governor said that the city is home to leading hotels, ranging from five-star to two-star, as well as over 100 unclassified hotels.
