The construction of Lessesia Secondary School in Taveta Constituency, Taita Taveta County, is progressing steadily, with the project now 70% complete, awaiting roofing as the final major phase.

The foundation stone for this institution was laid by President William Ruto in December 2024, marking a significant milestone in the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality senior school education.

The project comprises a three-storey, state-of-the-art facility featuring 20 spacious classrooms, four fully equipped science laboratories, two modern libraries, a staffroom, administrative offices for the principal and deputy principal and ablution blocks, all designed to create a conducive learning environment.

“As a pure senior school, Lessesia Secondary is set to admit its first cohort of Grade 10 learners next year, in line with the national transition to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) at senior school level”, said Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.

The institution will significantly ease pressure on the limited number of senior schools in the region, helping to decongest existing facilities and provide more learners with access to quality education closer to home.
