The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has called upon Kenyans especially the youth to desist from using social media propagate hate speech and extremist ideologies.
Speaking to KBC Channel 1, NCIC Director of Investigations James Wanyande revealed that the commissiom has received overwhelming complaints from citizens about the vice on digital platforms which continue to threaten social cohesion.

“As head of investigations I would urge the youth to have responsible use of social media. As a Commission we are receiving complaints on hate speech through social media. Use social media responsibly, for monetization purposes and not for propagating hate speech and extremist ideologies, he said.
He spoke ahead of the Transgenerational Conversations, a forum led by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) in collaboration with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
The event will take place at Farmview Hotel, starting from 7:30PM, and will be broadcast live on KBC Channel 1.

Meanwhile, Busia Deputy County Commissioner Solomon Komen has assured Busia County residents of their security and working diligently to ensure effective coordination of Governement functions.
“As NGAOs we are working diligently to ensure effective coordination of government functions from security to other related sectors within Busia County,” said DCC Komen.
The initiative was started by the commission following the GenZ’s spirit during last years June protests in calling for accountability, good governance including political decency and integrity.
