Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asma of Morocco has arrived in Kenya for a three-day official visit.
Her aircraft touched down at 2:00 p.m. at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, where she was warmly received by First Lady Rachel Ruto and senior government officials.
During her visit, Princess Lalla Asma is expected to visit the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Wednesday, where she will witness the progress of Kenya’s ongoing Cochlear Implant Program and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the area of hearing health.
The Princess made a generous donation of Cochlear implant devices worth Ksh 120 million, a contribution that will restore hearing, and hope, to dozens of Kenyan children living with hearing impairments. The devices were handed over to the Ministry of Health under the Voice of Children Program, an initiative spearheaded by First Lady Rachel Ruto last week.
A specialized team from the Kenyatta National Hospital, led by Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, is carrying out the implant surgeries.
Later in the evening, First Lady Rachel Ruto will host a State Dinner at State House, Nairobi, in honour of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asma, to celebrate the growing partnership between Kenya and Morocco in advancing inclusive healthcare and child welfare.
