Flynas begins direct flights on Nairobi-Riyadh route

Saudi Arabia’s low cost carrier, flynas has commenced direct flights between Nairobi and Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh as its seeks to expand operations into the African market.

The airline plans to operate three direct weekly flights between King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi in what is expected to align with Saudi Arabia’s objectives for tourism and aviation sectors under Vision 2030

Nairobi becomes the latest destination for flynas which already operates flights in Addis Ababa, Entebbe, and Djibouti.

The airline plans to capitalize on Kenya’s position as the largest economy in the region to boost tourism activities riding on the country’s scenic landscapes and vast wildlife preserves.

Flynas which also opened its local office in Nairobi says its network is in line with its growth as a low cost carrier and and expansion plan, launched under the title “We Connect the World to the Kingdom”.

Saudi Arabia through the National Civil Aviation Strategy targets to enable national air carriers to contribute to connecting KSA with 250 International destinations and to accommodate 330 million passengers and to host 150 million tourists yearly by 2030, and with the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques.

The airline operates 139 routes to more than 70 domestic and international destinations in 30 countries with more than 2000 weekly flights and has flown more than 80 million passengers since its launch in 2007.

Flynas targets to reach 165 domestic and international destinations within its growth and expansion plan, and in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
