Huawei Cloud has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating Kenya’s digital transformation with the successful hosting of Huawei Cloud TechWave Kenya Day in Nairobi.

Held under the theme “Innovate Now, Ignite the Future” the event brought together more than 120 senior technology leaders and decision-makers from across government, finance, media, e-commerce, and the broader ICT ecosystem.

As the global shift toward digital transformation accelerates, with more than 170 countries launching national digital strategies and over 60 governments adopting AI policies, Huawei Cloud is playing a central role in helping African nations adapt to this new era.

The company is leveraging its global experience and advanced technologies to bring real-world solutions to the Kenyan market, unlocking new business value and empowering innovation at every level.

Opening the event, Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Kenya, emphasized that now is the time for bold technological development.

He said, “The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now. Huawei Cloud is proud to have been in Kenya for 27 years, and we are here to build a better Kenya and a smarter, more connected future together. We want to become a one-stop shop for software development, offering the tools, platforms, and expertise needed to power Kenya’s digital economy.”

Shi also underscored Huawei Cloud’s long-term strategy, which is transitioning from cloud-native to AI-native architecture.

This shift embeds artificial intelligence deeply into every layer of the cloud. It aligns with the growing adoption of Cloud for AI and AI for Cloud models by enterprises around the world. These models enable system-level intelligence that reshapes how services are designed, delivered, and scaled.

Huawei Cloud’s global ecosystem now includes more than 2,000 industry customers and over 800 technology partners. This experience and reach are being brought to bear in Kenya, where Huawei Cloud is building partnerships with local enterprises, developers, and public institutions to accelerate innovation across all sectors.

Throughout the day, a series of keynote speeches and live demonstrations provided deep insights into the practical application of Huawei Cloud’s solutions.

Timothy Oriedo – Founder & CEO Predictive Analytics Lab – Kenya & UK Nigeria

Timothy Oriedo, Founder and CEO of Predictive Analytics Lab, delivered a keynote exploring how Big Data, DevOps, and AI are combining to drive Africa’s intelligent transformation.

Drawing from Kenyan use cases in sectors such as fintech, agriculture, and logistics, Oriedo outlined a clear roadmap for how enterprises can turn data into actionable insights and measurable outcomes.

Representing Huawei Cloud’s global product team, Rex Xiao, Vice President of the PaaS Product Department, introduced CodeArts, an all-in-one DevOps platform built on Huawei’s two decades of research and development expertise.

CodeArts integrates 28 tools into a single environment, offering a streamlined development process with distributed builds, unified workflows, and automated testing.

Xiao noted three primary benefits of the platform which are greater development efficiency, robust built-in security with checks that exceed industry standards, and intelligent automation that maximizes software productivity.

Echoing the theme of intelligent transformation, Ishaq Kassam, Chief Commercial Officer of FinSense Africa, spoke on the importance of DevSecOps in building a successful digital-first strategy.

He highlighted how key practices such as root cause analysis, one-click deployment, faster turnaround times, and security by design are critical to innovation, agility, and operational excellence.

In partnership with Huawei Cloud, FinSense is helping businesses in Kenya achieve all of these outcomes.

Huawei Cloud also presented real-world success stories, including a case study from the Philippines shared by Anthony Miano, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud.

He described how a leading internet company achieved a tenfold increase in software research and development efficiency by switching to CodeArts and eliminating the fragmentation caused by using multiple disconnected tools.

The discussion on digital transformation continued with David Sanchez Plaza, Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics at Huawei Cloud, who delivered a compelling keynote on data platform modernization.

He introduced the Lakehouse architecture which combines the scalability of data lakes with the reliability of data warehouses.

This unified approach enables organizations to break down data silos, integrate real-time analytics, and develop AI models based on trustworthy and structured data. Sanchez emphasized that this architecture is essential for turning information into a strategic business asset and building reliable, enterprise-grade AI capabilities.

To conclude the day, Kevin Kipruto, Senior Solution Architect at Huawei Cloud, demonstrated a live web-based e-commerce application, showcasing how Huawei Cloud’s platform as a service and DevSecOps services can be used to accelerate software delivery while maintaining performance and security.

The demo illustrated automated testing, performance validation, and real-time monitoring, all part of Huawei Cloud’s end-to-end delivery process designed to meet the evolving demands of modern digital businesses.

Looking ahead, Huawei Cloud reiterated its long-term commitment to Kenya and the wider African market. By integrating cloud computing, big data, AI, and DevOps technologies into practical, industry-ready solutions, Huawei Cloud is enabling Kenyan enterprises to innovate faster, reduce costs, and unlock new business opportunities.

Frank Shi concluded by saying, “We are not just providing technology. We are building ecosystems, nurturing talent, and co-creating solutions. Together with our partners, we will continue to build a smarter, more inclusive, and more intelligent future for Kenya and Africa.”
