Implementation of free issuance of IDs underway, Huduma says

Huduma Kenya has confirmed that the presidential directive on free issuance of National Identity Cards is still in force.

In a statement, Huduma said reassured Kenyans that the implementation to issue free identity cards for free is still ongoing urging for patience.

“Huduma Kenya wishes to inform our customers that the presidential directive on the issuance of ID Cards for free still remains and the organization has not contradicted it in any way. Its implementation is underway and we urge for your patience,” said Huduma Kenya.

The government is set review the national identification card replacement fee to ensure no one is denied the opportunity to register as a voter.

This was announced by President William Ruto while in Vihiga county weeks ago. He that the free replacement period would be open until after the 2027 general elections.

The Head of State said the fee was introduced to discourage the trend of citizens who received IDs for free from frequently losing them and replacing them.
