Kenya Airways has introduced a new onboard duty-free shopping service set to begin on November 1, offering passengers products at prices up to 15 per cent lower than those at airport duty-free shops.

The airline has partnered with Safari Duty Free to manage its inflight retail business under a five-year agreement, replacing its existing arrangement with a new digital shopping platform that allows passengers to browse and pre-order products before travelling.

Passengers will also enjoy a five per cent discount on all products purchased through the new webstore during its launch month, running until November 30, 2026.

The new Kenya Airways Duty-Free Webstore will allow customers to shop for international brands, luxury products, lifestyle items, travel accessories and gifts from their mobile devices or computers.

Customers can place orders between 40 days and 72 hours before departure, with purchases delivered directly to their seats onboard.

The platform will also provide order tracking and round-the-clock customer support, while cabin crew will offer personalised assistance during flights.

Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said the new arrangement will give passengers greater choice, convenience and value.

“Duty-free is an important part of the Kenya Airways customer journey. This launch reflects our commitment to continuously enhancing the travel experience by giving our customers more choice, greater convenience and better value,” said Thairu.

Safari Duty Free will oversee product selection, merchandising, brand partnerships, digital retail integration and customer service under the agreement.

The company’s Managing Director Vivek Mehra said the partnership will combine its retail expertise with Kenya Airways’ international network to improve the shopping experience for travellers.

The launch forms part of Kenya Airways’ efforts to strengthen its inflight retail business through digital shopping and improved customer services.
