Kenya beat hosts UAE 58-50 to go closer to Netball Cup bronze

Kenya national netball team – Divas, shocked hosts United Arab Emirates, beating them 58-50 yesterday in the ongoing Netball Cup in Dubai.

Kenya took early control of the game, edging the first quarter 13-12, and built momentum to take a 30-23 lead at half time.

Coach Ali Mugisha’s team kept pushing to take a commanding lead of 46-37 at the close of the 3rd quarter.

Kenya closed the third quarter ahead at 46-37, maintaining a solid lead and eventually defeating the home side 58-50, registering their 2nd back-to-back win, which puts them in bronze medal contention heading to the last match day.

Kenyan Divas will face Ireland today in their last match, which will decide which team wins a bronze medal, with both sides tied on 12 points.

Leaders Namibia with 18 points will tackle the USA, while Singapore, who are joint 1st, will face the hosts UAE in the last round-robin fixtures today.

The tournament which started on 19th June featured six nations: the USA, Namibia, Singapore, the Republic of Ireland, Kenya and hosts the UAE.
