18 year old Phanuel Koech broke away from a quality field in the World Continental tour gold meeting in Ostrava to set a meeting record of 3 minutes 29.05 seconds in the 1500m last night.
Phanuel who was on another record breaking feat recently in Paris where he set a World Under 20 record of 3 minutes 27.72 seconds in the 1500m despite a second placing,was followed by Portugal’s Isaac Nader and the World Indoor 800m champion Josh Hoey.
Nader clocked 3 minutes 29.37 seconds as Hoey clocked 3 minutes 29.75 seconds.
Three other records were also smashed in the Ostrava meet.
Mondo Duplantis set a meeting record of 6.13m in the Pole vault while the World indoor champion Prudence Sekgodiso ran the 800m in a minute 57.16 seconds.
Bahrain sprinter Salwa Eid Naser clocked 49.15 seconds in the 400m to erase the1983 record of 49.67 seconds set by Tatana Kocembova.
