The remaining parts of a dismembered body, which was found six days ago, have been retrieved from Munyu Dam, located in Melwa village within Marmanet Ward of Laikipia West Sub-County.
The missing head, hands, and legs were recovered by local divers who had camped at Munyu Dam since the discovery of the headless body, which had been stashed in a sack and spotted by residents fetching water.
According to Marmanet MCA Simon Kanyutu, the man, a potato farmer and mobile trader, has since been successfully identified by his family through a scar left by a metal plate inserted in one of his legs following an accident several years ago.
Confirming the incident, area OCPD Francis Ng’ang’a said the divers managed to recover the remaining parts of the body from deep within the dam, despite the parts being tied to heavy stones and logs to aid sinking.
The remains have been preserved at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary as investigations commence.
