The government of Lebanon has banned Disney’s remake of ‘Snow White’, released in March, over Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

Ms Gadot, who served in the Israel Defence Forces prior to becoming a model and later an actress, stars as the Evil Queen in the film. She has been on Lebanon’s boycott list since 2017.

According to the local newspaper An-Nahar, the ban was recommended by Lebanon’s Interior Minister, Ahmad Hajjar.

Ms Gadot has been a fervent supporter of Israel since the Hamas attacks on October 7 2023.

During an impassioned speech at the Anti-Defamation League’s summit in 2024, she said: “Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews.”

This isn’t the first Gadot film Lebanon has banned. They previously banned other Gadot titles like ‘Death On The Nile’ and ‘Wonder Woman’ because of the actress’s ties to Israel.
