Machakos County has reaffirmed its position as a leading investment destination following high-level discussions with a delegation from Pujiang County, China, during the China (Pujiang) – Kenya (Machakos) Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Forum.
Led by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, the County Government of Machakos hosted the Chinese delegation in a forum aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration in key sectors such as infrastructure, ICT, innovation, agriculture, health, education, and tourism.
The Pujiang delegation was led by Liu Xi, County Magistrate of the Pujiang County People’s Government, accompanied by Zhu Shunxian, Director of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Office of the Pujiang County People’s Government.
Governor Wavinya highlighted the development of New Machakos City, a 2,200-acre modern metropolis set to host a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), light industries, and smart infrastructure. She assured the delegation of Machakos County’s readiness to support investors through access to land and facilitation.
“Put it in writing what kind of business you want to set up and we will give you land,” she said. “We have a new city coming up and we are focusing on light industries like textile, ICT, and many more. There are endless opportunities here for you,and we will walk with you every step of the way.”
Her words were echoed by Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, who reaffirmed the county’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive environment for investment.
“We invite you to invest in this county. There are so many opportunities. When you invest in Machakos, you are assured that your business is protected,” he said.
Machakos continues to position itself as a safe, stable, and investor-ready hub for local and international partners seeking sustainable growth in Kenya and beyond.
