The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Human Development Foundation (HDF), to boost access to quality education in Garissa, Mandera and Kisii Counties.

The Human Development Foundation is a nonprofit organisation, based in the USA, committed to overall development and poverty eradication.

The overall responsibility for the implementation of the pilot programme will be the Ministry of Education.

HDF will provide digital devices, establish internet connectivity, and install systems to access content in five schools in Mandera, Garissa, Kisii Counties.

The Cabinet Secretary of Education Ezekiel Machogu discussed the modalities of implementing the MoU with Managing Director of HDF, Mr. Mohammed Omar at Ministry headquarters at Jogoo House.

Present was the Principal Secretary for Technical Vocational Education and Training, Dr. Esther Muoria and education officials.

Mr. Machogu said Kenyans in diaspora had high regard for the quality of education in the country.

He said some Kenyans abroad were sending their children back to learn in Kenya because of the strong values which were embedded in the curriculum.

He thanked HDF for the support it had pledged to Kenya under the MoU.

In his response, Mr. Omar said his organisation would donate 35 Computers for use in educational and training institutions.

He said disorganisation assists and develops children living in the most vulnerable conditions to become self-sustaining and live outside of the cycle of poverty.
