Nine arrested in Eastleigh for operating illegal courier services

Nine suspects have been arrested in Eastleigh, Nairobi County for operating unlicensed courier services in a sting operation by the Communications Authority (CA).

The operation which was conducted in collaboration with the National Police Service led to confiscation of samples of parcels, receipts and consignment books which will now be preserved as court exhibits.

“During the enforcement activity, the following firms were found to have been offering unlicensed parcel and courier services contrary to Section 67 of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998,” said CA.

Firms which were intercepted for carrying out the illegal act include Al-Safa Parcel Services, Falcon Fastforward Parcel Services, Turkana Parcel Services, Ramadhan Parcel, Mandera Parcel Stores, Skyway Centre, Sharks
Solution Parcel Services and Rahma Bus Services Limited.

The suspects are now being held at the California Police Station and will be arraigned at the Makadara
Law Courts.

CA now also cautions members of the public to seek parcel and courier services from licensed providers only for their own safety and security.
