Siaya Governor James Orengo is calling on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to act on the alleged hate speech by the Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

Orengo was accompanied by a battery of other elected leaders from Bungoma and Migori counties said that a mere apology and resignation from the position of Vice Chair of Council of governors is not sufficient to atone for his sin.

This came just moment after the ODM National chairperson Gladys Wanga castigated the Nyeri County boss over ‘irresponsible’ utterances.

The sentiments were echoed by Bungoma County chief Kenneth Lusaka and his Migori counterpart, Ochilo Ayako who described Kahiga’a utterances as ‘Un-African’.

In a press statement, however, Governor Kahiga apologized for the remarks he made over the demise of Odinga noting that his statements were his own and did not represent any community nor a political affiliation.

As the country is mourning and the Orange party facing a unity test just days after the burial of the former premier, Awendo lawmaker Walter Owino called on all the leaders within the ODM to honour Odinga by ensuring that the party is united.

He called on all the leaders with the dreams of occupying leadership positions to tone down and champion for unity above other interests.
