More than 100 sports teams will participate in this year’s Mara Sports Festival set to be held from 6th to 11th of December at the Ulinzi Sports Complex and the Nyayo National stadium.
The teams will compete in 19 sporting disciplines ranging from the ages of under 9 to under 19 years.
The 2025 edition of the Mara Sports Festival is expected to attract the largest number of junior players, who will be competing in 19 sporting disciplines, including football, basketball, volleyball, handball, rugby and hockey.
The tournament, to run for 6 days from 6th to 11th December, has been organised to provide a platform for talent development and scouting, ensure gender equality and inclusivity and promote fitness, discipline and mental wellness.
The event was launched today in Nairobi and will be the first of its kind to bring together children from schools and academies that will be competing for the over 10 million shillings reward in sports equipment.
The tournament is one of the sports development projects embraced by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya as a pathway to building stronger national teams that will represent Kenya at international competitions in the next ten years.
Only 32 teams per discipline will be accommodated in the tournament.
