More than 600 athletes are expected to compete in the Athletics Kenya National Championships to be held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex between Thursday 26th and Friday 27th June.
The competition which marks the conclusion of the track and field season will see athletes from
Athletics Kenya will see athletes from 16 Athletics Kenya regions and affiliates and 6 guest affiliates competing for top honours, with some eyeing World Championship qualifying times.
Two track event finals are lined up for tomorrow: 10,000m men and 5,000m women.
For athletes who have already met the World Championship times, they will use the two-day championships for national trials set for the 1st and 2nd of August, where AK will select a team Kenya for the 20th World Athletics Championships set for September in Tokyo.
The championship has been sponsored by Kenya Commercial Bank to the tune of Ksh 4 million, with another similar amount set aside for the national trials.
