Police Constable Mukhwana arrested over murder of Albert Ojwang

Ojwang died on Sunday under mysterious circumstances while in custody at Nairobi’s Central police station

Police Constable James Mukhwana, who was the cell sentry officer on duty the night Albert Ojwang was brought to Central Police Station, has been arrested and will be charged with murder.

According to a police report, Mukhwana was arrested on Thursday by officers from the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the National Police Service and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

He is being detained at the Capitol Hill Police Station.

“Please be informed that No. 260950 PC James Mukhwana of Central Police Station, Nairobi, was arrested today, 12/06/2025, and placed in custody at Capitol Hill police station by officers from IAU and IPOA”, reads the report by Kenya Police Service, Officer Commanding Station, Capitol Hill

“He is to be charged with the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code, following the death of one Albert Ojwang. IPOA and IAU are dealing. More details to follow,” it further states.
