Kenyan-born and American-based rapper, singer, and record producer KayCyy is excited to announce the release of “Far Away,” his new single featuring the talented Kenyan performer and producer, Njerae.
The croon-heavy track fuses KayCyy and Njerae’s signature styles to create a song that’s both an earworm and a push of creative boundaries.
“Njerae and I linked up this year, and I love her growth as an artist. We wanted to share a song that speaks to Kenya, where we both come from, but that carries a global appeal,” KayCyy says of the collaboration.
The collaboration on the back of KayCyy’s release of his June LP, ‘Before I Was Born’, and his riveting collaboration with his creative mentor A$AP Rocky on the song “pray4dagang”.
Sharing her own thoughts on the collaboration, Njerae said: “KayCyy is really talented and has worked with some of the biggest names in the world from Kanye to Justin Bieber, just to name a few. To see someone from Kenya who is at the highest level is really inspiring. I wanted to create something that felt true to me and I really put my soul on the record. I love collaborating, and he is easy to work with as well as really intentional.”
KayCyy has achieved significant recognition in the music industry through his extensive collaborations and high-profile partnerships across the globe.
His most notable work includes his contributions to Kanye West’s Grammy-nominated album, Donda, for which he served as a credited vocalist and writer.
He also won a Grammy Award for his involvement on the track “Hurricane,” which took home the award for Best Melodic Rap Performance in the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in 2022.
Beyond his work with Kanye West, KayCyy has also been featured on songs with other major artists, such as Travis Scott on his album Utopia, as well as with Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, and Joey Bada$$.
Furthermore, his collaborative EPs with French electronic artist Gesaffelstein, titled TW20 50 and TW2052, highlight his versatility and his ability to seamlessly blend his style with different musical genres.
Working with Njerae is an addition to his great ear for talent. Their chemistry is heavy on “Far Away,” building on the vocals and songwriting of the two acclaimed artists.
